The Participatory Politics Foundation is a non-profit organization that makes web tools for greater political engagement. Our flagship project is OpenCongress.org.

OpenCongress seeks to make the political process more widely accessible and to combat corruption in government through greater transparency. Users can track any bill, issue, or Member of Congress and engage with the political topics they care about.

We’re looking for a programmer with strong Ruby on Rails experience. He or she will work with our open-source team to expand the "My OpenCongress" feature set. We work collaboratively & remotely over the web. Our projects are user-focused with a social mission.

This is a part-time position to last at least five months, with the possibility of continuing thereafter. Hours are flexible (weekends & nights are fine). Salary is competitive and will depend on your availability & experience. We’re ideally looking to contract with someone right away, but timing is fairly flexible.
